My sisters and I had them as children, though I think the covers were black. The green ones are lovely. :)Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14547185701758750401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-56461557225717055502009-06-16T19:17:57.543-04:002009-06-16T19:17:57.543-04:00Maybe I was too harsh. I wonder if I will feel the same way. Right now, only a few pages in, I am riveted. I'll be back to visit some more. I have an old 'My Bookhouse - In the Nursery' which is a treasure.Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-12319165322662039462009-02-09T13:28:00.000-05:002009-02-09T13:28:00.000-05:00Thanks for the correction. :)Thanks for the correction. :)Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14547185701758750401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-79771219940274946332009-02-09T13:12:00.000-05:002009-02-09T13:12:00.000-05:00Actually, you've got it backwards on Grofield--The...Actually, you've got it backwards on Grofield--The Hot Rock was published after The Damsel.

Grofield was originally a character in the Parker novels (starting with The Score) who went on to have his own series of four books. The Hot Rock was originally intended to be a Parker novel, but when it started to look funny instead of dark, Westlake invented the character of Dortmunder instead. The Hot Rock's origin as an aborted Parker novel likely explains why Grofield appears.Gordon Winslowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04169370956061106474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-13174629536224154682009-02-09T06:12:00.000-05:002009-02-09T06:12:00.000-05:00Mairanne, thanks for the comment. This happens in so many mystery series - the earlier books are better.

Let me know if you make your own list. I'd like to see it.
Now that I have mine here, I never have to say "I've got nothing to read!"Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14547185701758750401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-16782112761479235032009-02-08T22:27:00.000-05:002009-02-08T22:27:00.000-05:00You just reminded me of lots of my favorite books....You just reminded me of lots of my favorite books. Can never think of them. I should make a list like this. I think you might like the Jacqeline Winspear books but I get a little irritated with Maisy's New Agieness later in the series.Mariannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06929906559441348957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-74155413771614950202008-11-17T07:41:00.000-05:002008-11-17T07:41:00.000-05:00This comment has been hidden from the blog.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14547185701758750401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-64098371068578323892008-11-17T07:33:00.000-05:002008-11-17T07:33:00.000-05:00This comment has been hidden from the blog.Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10979695143286607770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004024115422646130.post-18757252210550063682008-09-08T16:40:00.000-04:002008-09-08T16:40:00.000-04:00Shellie, just don't hold me accountable to S&a...Shellie, just don't hold me accountable to S&W's standards!
